Forschung und Studien

Neben der Teilnahme an multizentrischen Studien, die parallel in verschiedenen Schweizer und internationalen Spitälern durchgeführt werden, engagieren wir uns auch in eigenen Forschungsprojekten. Wir verfolgen das Ziel, eine kontinuierliche Verbesserung in der Strahlentherapie zum Wohle unserer Patientinnen und Patienten zu erreichen.

Wir bieten interessierten Studierenden die Möglichkeit, relevante Kenntnisse in eigenständiger Forschung zu erwerben, insbesondere im Rahmen von Projekten wie einer Master- oder Doktorarbeit. Durch diese Gelegenheit können Studierende wertvolle Erfahrungen sammeln und ihre Forschungsfähigkeiten entwickeln.

Im Rahmen der klinischen Forschung werden anonymisierte Behandlungsdaten genutzt, um den Einfluss einer Behandlung auf den Tumor, mögliche Nebenwirkungen der Behandlung und die Lebensqualität der Patientinnen und Patienten nach der Behandlung vorherzusagen. Ziel dabei ist die Behandlung langfristig so anzupassen, dass die genannten Faktoren optimiert werden. Neben Kooperationen mit anderen Radioonkologien in der Schweiz und in Deutschland geschieht dies vor allem in Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Abteilungen am KSW, wie etwa der Palliativmedizin.

Mit der Entwicklung neuer Technologien ergeben sich viele Chancen zur Verbesserung der medizinischen Versorgung, die unter dem Begriff Digital Health zusammengefasst werden. Die Forschungsgruppe untersucht den Einsatz von Innovationen sowohl im Bereich Software (z.B. künstliche Intelligenz) als auch im Bereich Hardware (z.B. Wearables wie Smartwatches) zur Verbesserung der Behandlungsqualität in der Radio-Onkologie.

Studieninhalt
In dieser Studie untersuchen wir die Wirksamkeit der Strahlentherapie im Vergleich zur Chirurgie bei der Behandlung von Brustkrebs mit Befall der Lymphknoten in der Achselhöhle.  Wir führen diese Studie durch, um die wirksamste Behandlung mit den wenigsten  herauszufinden.

Bei Knochenmetastasen einer Tumorerkrankung ist die Strahlentherapie ein wichtiger Bestandteil der Therapie zur langfristigen Linderung von Schmerzen und Verbesserung der lokalen Kontrolle. In diesem Forschungsvorhaben wollen wir herausfinden, welche Dosierung, also wie häufig man wie viel Strahlung geben muss, das beste Ergebnis erzielt.

Studieninhalt:
200 Patienten von Spitälern in der Schweiz, Deutschland und Österreich sollen im Rahmen der Studie behandelt werden.  Die Hälfte der Patienten wird mit der bei uns standardmässig fünfmalig postoperativen Bestrahlung und die andere Hälfte mit der neuen präoperativen Radiochirurgie behandelt werden. So können die zwei Therapiemöglichkeiten verglichen und die Vor- und Nachteile richtig beurteilt werden.
